From Pattaya, GMA intoned a most disturbing Easter message: “Risk all for Truth!” What callousness. What audacious hypocrisy. Easter is supposed to be about redemption and hope. But with such an official statement, the hopelessness of many only waxes further. At the very least, beyond merely pontificating about truth, she should move the pertinent agencies to do better police, legal and forensic work on all the kidnappings and killings that remain unsolved in our country. Tragically, with killings on the rise, government seems overly anxious to let murderers and rapists get lighter sentences or commutations of their prison terms. Is this Government being more Christian than the Christ? It’s very tempting to simply say that, in this country, the science of forensics is purposely left underdeveloped so that the killers (many of them probably in government) maintain their impunity. And if found guilty anyway, you can get out earlier by some pious power. No wonder many are drowning in hopelessness.
Consider these: Ninoy Aquino. Lean Alejandro. Dacer. Corbito. What do these names have in common? Mystery. For who really killed them and why? Even in the case of Ninoy, the question remains for the mastermind has yet to be identified. And yes, we also want to raise the ghosts of the Dacer-Corbito case. But where is the solid forensic evidence behind these two killings? To compound matters, how can we fully trust government on this when those involved might have been government agents themselves… or are now “enemies” of the government for they purportedly support certain political interests anti-thetical to the current regime? Why are the Dacer-Corbito twin murders being revived this time around? Eleksiyon na naman? We hope government can put as much effort on other killings and disappearances especially the political ones where the military and police are being implicated. This country needs two S’s–science and sincerity. More science in its system of governance. More sincerity from its political leaders. May we remind GMA, you have been called many times to risk all for truth. What have you and your minions in Congress done? So as you say that we must risk all for truth, we cannot help but ask, whose Truth? For whom? Puro patayan dito, habang nasa Patayya ka.

one who preaches must practice. one with a history of cheating and lying cannot himself call for truthfulness. Jesus spoke of holiness because He was spotless. what He therefore spoke of are still followed thousands of years after His death. lesser personages but righteous and morally upright great leaders such as Gandhi, Lincoln, or even ninoy and the like were honored and their words were followed because they were credible as they lived and worked consistent with with their principles and what they practiced. rizal or ninoy would be believable even in times such as now where almost no one in governance would be credible to the people.
but GMA can also be defended in a sense that she may be unfairly misjudged and that the current situation of corruption has grown and will grow with or without her or her husband. with a press as free as ours, what we read is what we learn and absorb. and unless we have data from other sources that tells us otherwise, then what the papers say about the president may be all true — government is corrupt, deals are shady, kickbacks are routine, tongpats is integral to a project formulae, etc…and finally therefore, no one in government can be qualified to call for an act of “risking all for the truth”.
i would like to believe that there is some honesty left in government and i sincerely pray and hope that GMA is not what so many say of her hypocrisy. i say this because i feel so uncomfortable that i have the constitutional duty to respect the hirearchy while being told daily that this structure is rotten to its core. i helped have this government elected by my vote i cast in bacolod, during my assignment there. now, i no longer know whether i did wrong or right.
anyway, whether it was said by the president or by a bishop or even by jalosjos, the point is still correct — that there comes a time when people must risk all for the truth.
often however , truth suffers. because there always is not enough evidence. the stink is strong but the the shit is never seen. so we are often lead to believe that a durian odor is sometimes how a papaya or watermelon smells.

Maybe she just wanted to warn people that they have to risk all and anything if they will look for or twll the truth? Probably concerned totruth about all the allegations against her and her husband and sons?
Then this “Risk all” has a serious meaning….

Don’t blame these killings to Gloria.
In short, napagabutan lang.
However, if you still watch Soco or CSI, the above cases are now called Cold Case.
Still, the police is investigating with the use of modern tools in this age of DNA.
If you still seek for truth, you can be a witness if you know more than anything about what the police know on this mystery killings as you are said.
This is not election case,to be brought during election. It is criminal case that police are handling to solve.
Enough of Gloria bashing, enough of Gloria blaming.
Much more keep your mouth shut for nothing.

the clemency to the criminals must be given by the president only when the victims nearest kin forgive them.

As the saying goes; “Even the devil can qoute passage from the bible.” Similarly, PGMA, should be the last person on earth to deal on such delicate subject matter. It is short of blasphemy.
How dare she use the word love when a little more than 1,000 alleges victims of summary execution goes unabated in her own turf.
Blasphemy!

allow me to react to the article “celebrities have rights too”.
but first, let me state that i condole with mr. failon and his family. i pray for the repose of mrs etong’s soul.
while i sympathize with the celebrity’s situation as suspect it must be emphasized that police must look at all angles. being a celebrity does not exempt him from this side of scrutiny. more importantly, everybody else has rights too. and ted failon is amongst them. when media people pry, investigate, report, gather details and somehow influence reputations of news targets there is hardly anyone who would come to the latter’s aid or rescue, because the investigations reported are all part of constitutional rights on freedom of the press. now and then the tables are turned and celebrities such as this feel the pains of scrutiny, suspicion, news, opinions, and comments.
i personally think ted failon is innocent of any suspicion of foul play. but that is more of a sympathetic mode in favor of a broadcaster rather than anl investigation result. i leave it up to the police and other authorities to determine legal innocence or guilt. i can understand his sufferings now and it is perfectly understandable for him to ask for “no media” , or for “privacy”, etc …
there have been others before who have asked for a little time or space for such privacy but were not granted - because their case was newsworthy.
what must be supreme in these happennings is to prevent the possibility of policemen or some authorities to take advantage of this tragedy to pin down ted failon to exact vengeance, or to press him to chill his future reports or criticisms against his news targets.
yes, everybody has rights too, and so does ted, and so do the policement, helpers, and newsmen.
all i ask is that everything else would be fair - that ted will not be treated unfairly , and that the police be allowed to do their job thoroughly that considers all angles, and nor should he (ted) be given special privilege that is often not accorded the poor.
hang in there ted. truth should set you free.

Today, we see our lower house show its real personality. It no longers represent the will of its constituents but that of its polictical party. We no longer expect any morality in their actuation.
Both the Charter Change and the Right to Reply is an abominable event waiting to happpen. In Charter Change, by giving foreigners 100% ownership to our land is tantamount to surrendering our territorial sovereignty. There is the sign that our Chinese dominated government is hell bent for Mainland China to annex our country. That country could well afford to buy our land just like what the Americans did to Alaska, which it bought from the Russian Empire, so goes the same thing to our country.
What would stop them since our TRAITOR HouseSpeaker of the lower house Prospero Nograles is doing all it can to make his House Resolution no. 737, approved by PGMA’s party. This is the economic aspect of the Charter Change. Prospero Nograles is a surrogate of Mainland Chinese. He wants to demolish our country’s sovereignty.
In the Right to Reply resolution, it proposes to give space for those politicians affected by criticism the right to reply in the same newspaper. First, it is impractical, second, it is not economically feasable, and third, it a politician will reply to every criticism he gets, mine you, he might as well change job and just keep on replying to every criticism no matter how silly it is.
By concentrating in replying to all criticism, that congressman can no longer function as peoples representative. What if he is an “onion skin” who gets slighted everytime he receive an unfavorable comment.
In the middle of the worst global economic meltdown, our crazy congressmen is more interested in furthering their personal agrandizement rather than saving the Filipino from these hardship. Greed has overcome decency among our law-makers.
So, as silent majority, if we see what kind of lame duck our law makers are, are we just going to remain silent while they distroy us?

So what else is NEW?
GMA CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED IN THREE WORDS: DISHONESTY, CRIMINALITY & CORRUPTION.
I am betting that the next would-be president would make the same cut as above.

Re Ms. Gloria Arroyo’s Going Dubai & Other Countries
Obviously she’s now scouting for a place to exile herself & family, after she’s removed from office. Just like Thailand’s Thaksin, now hiding in Dubai.

My feeling is it is time for PEOPLE POWER!
Let’s rally ourselves once more for TRUTH!
Let’s rally for FREEDOM!
Let’s rally for getting rid of people who do not really care for the greater good!
Let’s rally ourselves for ourselves. For our future!

What are we waiting for? While those who sit in power continue to plunder the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I beg to disagree. Allegations are not evidence. And based on the unprinted performance, especially on the economic accomplishments of the incumbent president, her advantages far outweigh her perceived disadvantages.

We don’t honor the truth
It is no longer safe to say the truth in this country. Truth and truth-seekers are silenced. Anyone who speaks and stands up for the truth finds himself voiceless for fear of reprisal. In fine, truth is suppressed out of fear. Truth is a costly possession in this country and is not easily obtained without sacrifice and hammering from those who hate the truth.
Seemingly this is the Philippines today, to a great degree. Truth is elusive in this country and falsehood is popular. Graft and corruption is normal and honesty is out of this world. Deceit is accepted and integrity is unheard of. Truth tellers are not appreciated in our society and are often considered as threats to the government. And our leaders are insecure of the truth because it smites them.
Telling the truth is at this time critical in our nation’s history. What happens if all of us reject truth? What happens to our country if all of us are peddler of lies? What happens if the government befriends more the pathological liars than side with the truth seekers? We cannot live with lies and let the government take away our liberties and freedom.
Our leaders who lead us by telling lies are also urging us to tell lies. Our leaders are teaching us by their attitudes and behavior that they do not value truthfulness. They teach us to hide or distort the truth and love falsehood. It appears that telling lies is a qualification of becoming a leader in this country. It is ironic that we address our leaders “honorable” even when we know that they are liars. One indeed reaches the reputation of being called “honorable” if one is a liar.
This is the truth about our country today- we don’t honor the truth.

Maybe instead of GMA, there should be truth about Failon, too.
There are so many different statements now, some regarding to parricide denied but still upheld by the person who made it, other contradicting each other and so forth.
There has been Failon’s statement reported that he rushed home shortly before his program ended. Why he had to “rush”?
There was his statement that the evening before, he and his wife had arguments but all was cleared already next morning. Why the housemaids stated there was no such problem?
There was a report, saying the gun has been found at the side where the bullet came out, very unusual that the victim would put the gun to the other side with already such a wound.
There is the statement of helpers they cleaned the bathroom “to spare the daughter that view”. More than senseless because they just had to close and lock the door, knowing well that there will be an investigation.
here is the report that when police came, the gun was already back to the holster and bearing no fingerprints of the victim.
There is the fact that Failon did not report immediately to the police. Why not?
There is the report that the hospital also did not report a patient with bullet wound, why not, that is their duty?
Anybody and for sure the doctors know well that investigation will take a paraffine test, why the victim should have been cleaned? And if this cleaning was so successful, then Ted or any other suspect could also have cleaned his or her skin.
The hospital tells now that theyare not prepared for such kind of emergency cases, why the victim has been brought there?
And now, lastly even the cloths of the victim have disappeared at the hospital. Are there all people so thumb that they did not know the cloths would be laboratory checked by the investigators?
With all these discrepancies, there should not be any blaming about the QC police. But now, who will “risk all for the truth”, esp. after the popular Failon has been mentioned as an opposition candidate for 2010?

hello pedro, are you expecting a housemaid with full knowledge of the Law on probe, oh my God, you have cited a lot of REPORTS which definitely you only heard it, these reports need veracity to obtain truthfulness, let the spirit and letters of the LAW deals with it, at the end of the day reports are mere reports, but how about us, we remain as we are….thanks..adios!

Rallying in silence is better. Its saves times and sanity wise. Tompak! Anyones can rallys now for unsure reasons and motives but angerly. Anger misdirected displaying. Vehement, utterly wrong against gloria and miguel. Alam mo, mahal kita. Mahalin mo kaya akomismo nang dahil sa totot? Maghulosdili ka nga ‘tol

I agree with anak t. sa-it, people were preceived to the things which no one knows it will happen, baseless or creating bad insinuation to PGMA and her gov’t? Assessment base on clouds and stars? Other media outlets used for simply demolition job courtesy from pork barrel. PGMA has gone to every corner of the philippine island assisting relief operation or symphaty to people during calamities even on dangerous areas? How many roads, bridges built and new airports and facilities and handed land tiltles given, just to mentioned few. If she is not smart and good leader the phippine already collapsed during the food shortage and global melt down. I think no one could surpass her achievements. Her administration based on program built she offered to people during her first term. Accomplishment based on scheduled program phase by phase. That’s a true good leader, planner and management wise. She been respected here abroad and around the world, the 4th to address UN general assembly, seated on special table for great leaders at China’s olympic gathering and recognized as one of the strongest woman in the world. For sure, the rest big mouth politicians are after only of the gov’t funds to pocket and nothing more scrambling and infighting everyone to position. That’s their plan and objective, a lot of money in gov’t!

I would suggest PGMA should take the opportunity of a graceful exit in 2010 as she completed her term, completely retiring from politics.
Regardless on how history will judge her administration, be it good or bad, it is only prudent for a former president to completely retire for private life away from politics.
Any attempt to continue holding public office after 2010 will only reflects greed and lack of delicadeza. For doing so, It only shows the very ugly face of Filipino culture, PAGKAGAHAMAN SA KAPANGYARIHAN AT PAGKAKAPAL NG MUKHA!!! Why not just allow others to serve?
